Bob Geldof was born  (1) _____ Dublin, Ireland,  (2) _____ October 5, 1954.  (3) _____ 1975 he started a rock band called the 'Boomtown Rats' and he became a famous pop star. But now he is best-known as the man who made millions of pounds to help the people of Africa.

 

It all began  (4) _____ October 1984, when Geldof saw the television news about Ethiopia: millions of peoople were dying of hunger. He was very upset, so he decided to make and sell a record, and to give the money to Ethiopia. He and Midge Ure wrote a song called Do They Know It's Christmas? and Geldof asked some pop star friends to record the song. He called the group 'Band Aid' and  (5) _____ Sunday 25 November 1984, they recorded the song  (6) _____ London. Two weeks later the record was  (7) _____ the shops.
