Another Day

Look at these sentences taken from the song 'Another Day':

  • 'Every day she takes a morning bath.'
  • 'Sometimes she feels so sad.'

Sometimes and every day are adverbs that help describe the girl's habits and routines. Do you remember any other words that are used in English to talk about how often you do something? See if you can find some of these words and expressions in this online wordsearch activity.

Can you put them in order, from the word that indicates highest frequency to the lowest? Click on the words and drag them up and down the list with your mouse.

Now here's an activity for you. After you have put the words in the right order, look at the position of the adverbs in the sentences. When do they go before a verb? Is it a main verb (like go, play, study, etc) or an auxiliary verb (like be, does, modal verbs like can, must, etc.)?

Finally, rewrite the sentences inserting the adverb of frequency in the right place, before or after the verb.
